Anubis approched the gate, a number of his followers as his back. Already he had sent out the town cryers, anouncing his intention to launch an expidition. He would wait here, at the city's entrance, for the Humans to support him.

In short time, Syrah came down to the gate from the inner city, walking purposefully across the square and over to Anubis. "I'll join you on this , jackal-headed one." She stated with a look that seemed to be threw him, rather then at him. The inhuman eyes blinked, and she turned her attention to the gate.

Anubis assessed this newcomer, with the strange eyes. Her powerful soul cried out to him, and he turned to look away before she could see him lick his chops- Diplomacy, as much as anything, was why he'd done so well as leader of his kind. "It is always welcome to have a soothsayer among us- but you seem unusually versed in Martial affairs, for one of your station." His tone of curiosity was plain, turning it into a question- No hint of his hunger reached his demeanor as he gazed over the wall.

Minerva watched him turn away, turn his gaze from her. "A child's passtime. The Sword called to me almost as strongly as the Sight. But one is needed now more desperately then the other." She turned herself in the same direction as Anubis, looking over the same patch of wall. "What do you see out there?" She asked, somewhat cryptically"

In truth, Anubis saw an unappealing field, occasional livestock grazing acrost it. Still, it might be time to start going over the reasons for the expidition.
He pointed across to a pocket of hills in the distance. "Beyond those hills was the greatest human city in all the realm. Beyond them lie one fortress city after anoterh, all on them more defensable than Calando. So why do we still stand, when so many other have fallen?"

"You know full well, perhaps better then most, it takes more then walls and towers to hold back the Wild." Syrah responded. "So you plan to explore these castles and cities, for survivors, or more likely, artifacts of a greater time."

Anubis turned his inhuman stare to Syrah. "All that once belonged to the dead belong to the eaters of the dead. It is our destiny." His voice held a flat, fanatic tone as he regarded the human.
After a moment he forced himself to look away, and his voice returned to normal, apologetic, even. "But the important thing to consider, is that as far as we can tell, Calando is the last outpost of humanity and it's allies. Why do we survive, when all the others have fallen? That is what we must discover."

"Your destiny is as simple as that, I fear." Syrah commented. "Do you still await a larger group for this expedition, or shall you begin with the plan of where we will head, and how to get there?"

Anubis glanced over the assembly. A number of human warriors had joined his own followers, but the two maintained separate groops, eyeing each other distastefully. He would have much work to do to form them into a cohesive fighting groop. "We might as well get started..." he sighed. "The most recent attack that we know of is several days journey away."

"Then summon the divided men, leader. Let us be off." Minerva stated. She turned to look at the group that stood in two separate camps. Her eyes seemed to glaze over for a second, and she turned back to Anubis. "they'll trust each other before the end." she added plainly. "It's a pitty the enemy always swarms where the airships land - I'd make this first trip all the quicker."
